Performance Assessment and GoldSim ModelingA radiological performance assessment (PA) is a quantitative evaluation of potential releases of radioactivity from a disposal facility into the environment, as well as an assessment of the resultant radiological doses to predefined receptors. The performance assessment is a critical component of the regulatory approval process for waste storage facilities. RAC is currently developing the performance assessment for Waste Control Specialists’ Low Level Waste facility in Andrews County, Texas, which includes a GoldSim PA model for the Compact Waste Facility (CWF), the Federal Waste Facility (FWF), and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) landfill.
